They say that in politics nothing happens by accident, and given the sophistication and continual onslaught of propaganda coming from government and from corporate media, taking anything thing which becomes ‘news’ in America today at face value requires a hefty dose of willful naivety.

We know that even non-profit news agencies such as PBS will heavily edit the statements of legitimate presidential candidates such as Jill Stein in order to control public opinion. We know that the U.S. Army embeds psyops soldiers at local TV stations around the country to influence or even to approve of what appears on the nightly news. We know that the CIA engages in projects such as Operation Mockingbird to influence media and to counter cultural revolutions by means of infiltration. We also know that the world is already on the brink of World War III, and that in war, the first casualty is always the truth.

Why then, in a climate of such broad deceit are we to trust that the saga of Julian Assange and Wikileaks is what it is pitched as: a brave whistleblower risking his life to come to the aid of the American people by exposing government secrets?

In appreciation of this perspective, here are four reasons to consider that the Wikileaks program may be yet another engineered (CIA?) operation to control the narrative at a critical juncture in American and world history where global powers are pushing for total world war and the wealth of the world is being swiftly delivered into the hands of the world financial elite.

1.) Exceptionally high drama in the Assange captures public attention. With oddities such as supposed attempted hits on Assange, appearances by Pamela Anderson, who recently brought Assange lunch at the Ecuadorian embassy in London, encoded Twitter messages by Assange, and now the recent internet block of Assange by the Ecuadorian state, the story is unfolding like a John Grisham novel. It has become so dramatic, so intriguing, and so unbelievable, while crescendoing at such a critical time in the 2016 election, that it is has been made impossible to ignore.

2.) Wikileaks is controlling the narrative of the election. Such a high volume of releases by Wikileaks floods the zone of public attention, creating an unavoidable distraction from more important issues, such as the developing war with Russia, the slow-burn collapse of the economy, U.S. support of ISIS and Syrian rebels, and the ongoing domestic issues of the expanding surveillance and police state.

Furthermore, the releases are coming as partisan dispatches, focusing almost exclusively on the Clinton campaign, giving the impression that Clinton is being treated unfairly, which creates the perception that she needs support. Additionally, it gives this camp fodder to blame Russia for aggression against the West while NATO and the U.S. encircle Russia and push the Neocon-Israeli agenda of a new world order created out of chaos.

3.) Wikileaks is shedding light on relatively petty issues, helping to bury the major crimes of the Clinton family. When an aircraft has been targeted by an incoming missile, in defense it releases flares which give off heat similar signatures while obfuscating the authentic prize. In this case, the true history of the Clintons has now become irrelevant among the flow of juicy details about their campaign communiques. While there are indeed many important revelations coming from Wikileaks about how Hillary views the American public and about her true allegiances to the globalists and the banking cabal, the true breadth of her crimes is going undiscussed.

4.) Legitimate whistleblowers are not allowed to damage the U.S. empire. Those who have information which could truly be harmful to the imperial state are always silenced. Either they are prevented from speaking out before doing so, or their message is not allowed to be distributed by the mainstream media and especially not given the mass attention that Wikilieaks is receiving. The fact that Wikileaks is appearing to blow the whistle on government crimes is a sign that they are being permitted to do so.

Final Thoughts

As news outlets, both mainstream and alternative, jump all over the recent Wikileaks releases, spinning them this way and that way to suit their own political agendas, the fact remains we are under the heavy influence of sophisticated propaganda. Any political narrative that captures the attention of the public and of the media in general is suspect because of the ongoing history of subterfuge, social engineering and mind control.

In light of this, surely the entire Assange operation warrants suspicion as well.

ED vs. EL: Agriculture has domesticated the common man

traditional_farming_methods_and_equipments

From the Melanated Man:

I got a dandy one for you today.

Domesticate (verb)to convert (animals, plants, etc.) to domestic uses (under a household, dome), tame (an animal) and keep it as a pet or for farm produce, cultivate (a plant) for food.

wild (adj.)– (of an animal or plant) living or growing in the natural environment; not domesticated or cultivated.

(noun)-a natural state or uncultivated or uninhabited region.

Excerpt from Evolution, consequences and future of plant and animal domestication

The question “why farm?” strikes most of us modern humans as silly. Of course it is better to grow wheat and cows than to forage for roots and snails. But in reality, that perspective is flawed by hindsight. Food production could not possibly have arisen through a conscious decision, because the world’s first farmers had around them no model of farming to observe, hence they could not have known that there was a goal of domestication to strive for, and could not have guessed the consequences that domestication would bring for them. If they had actually foreseen the consequences, they would surely have outlawed the first steps towards domestication, because the archaeological and ethnographic record throughout the world shows that the transition from hunting and gathering to farming eventually resulted in more work, lower adult stature, worse nutritional condition and heavier disease burdens10, 11. The only peoples who could make a conscious choice about becoming farmers were hunter–gatherers living adjacent to the first farming communities, and they generally disliked what they saw and rejected farming, for the good reasons just mentioned and others.

Instead, the origins of domestication involved unforeseen consequences of two sets of changes — changes in plants and animals, and changes in human behaviour. As initially recognized by Darwin12, and elaborated by Rindos13, many of the differences between domestic plants and their wild ancestors evolved as consequences of wild plants being selected, gathered and brought back to camp by hunter–gatherers, while the roots of animal domestication included the ubiquitous tendency of all peoples to try to tame or manage wild animals (including such unlikely candidates as ospreys, hyenas and grizzly bears). Although humans had been manipulating wild plants and animals for a long time, hunter–gatherer behaviour began to change at the end of the Pleistocene because of increasingly unpredictable climate, decreases in big-game species that were hunters’ first-choice prey, and increasing human occupation of available habitats14, 15.

I remember learning about man’s transition from hunter-gatherer to agriculture. What was never talked about was how and why that transition took place. No one never talks about what food actually does to you on a metaphysical level, the cellular level, the level you can’t see with your naked eye. So far I have talked about the benefits of eating fresh  fruits and vegetables, removing  animal flesh and white salt and sugar from diet, admonishing everything that is artificial. What if the fresh foods we partake are effecting us consciously and subconsciously without even realizing?

As I mentioned before, the natural foods that we eat should contain light/life. Slightly cooked or steamed, preferably eaten raw. In essence, our bodies are condensed light, and light partakes of light. Sounds simple. But that light can be altered. It can be manipulated. When you take a species from its natural habitat, from an uninhabited Mother Nature, you began to change its genetic makeup. We know that it’s true with domesticated animals such as dogs, cats, guinea pigs, fish in a aquarium, etc. The same can be applied to wild animals in the zoo, and man-made wild safaris. They are more docile, tamed. They’re lifespans decrease as well. Whose to say the same can’t be said for the , fruits and vegetables that we eat?

Like I said, those plants have life.

Before agriculture took place, those plants/vegetation were wild as well.  They were in their natural state. But in this day and age, you’d be hard pressed to find any plants/vegetation we consume as such. And as I’ve touched on in previous posts, consuming domestic food ultimately creates a domesticated man.  Even if you have your own garden, growing you own food, you’re not getting the full benefit of your crops because of what you have to do to cultivate it.

So how are melanin-dominant individuals (Blacks for the uninitiated) suppose to liberate themselves when the consumption is tamed? From the food (which makes us look like fools) to the entertainment?

“But we have to eat, stupid!  Without agriculture, we couldn’t supply the world population!”

Well some of you are already hip to the esoteric fact that our melanin-dominant ancestors, well over 50,000 years ago when they were actually dominant on this planet, were able sustain themselves with little to no food consumption. What they is true…only the strong will survive.

And…

There is  evidence that shows a correlation in the time period, between 10,000-12,000 years ago when man began to adhere to a agricultural lifestyle, brain size began to shrink in relation to our ancient ancestors who ate untamed food.

“Brain size doesn’t mean squat. I’m pretty sure that we’re still smarter than our ancient ancestors with all our current technology.”

Not quite. Our melanin-dominant ancestors had practically none of the technological gadgets that resemble anything from today, yet they were intelligent enough to create  calculus and physics, astrology and astronomy, cosmology and cosmogony, medicine, etc. They created the foundation of all this so-called modern technology that just popped out of nowhere over the last 80-90 years.

You can’t do all of that on a mind that is domesticated and trained.

So for the last 400-500 years have our people been actually fighting for true liberation? In every facet imaginable, physically and spiritually?

Or are we fighting for acceptance in this game called “The Matrix”,which is an illusion?

Orrrr…..do we even know what we actually need to fight for? Do we understand our true history?

According Chancellor Williams in The Destruction of Black Civilization, he dates the decline of melanin-dominant people rule on this earth around the same time agriculture comes on the scene. Is that a coincidence?

The question that I need answering is  did our melanin-dominant ancestors inadvertently create their own demise with agriculture, or was this concoction introduced by a group of melanin-recessive individuals (Caucasians, Europeans for the uninitiated) who have the least spiritual connection to this planet?

My logic wants to go with the latter, but I’m still researching. It wouldn’t bother me one bit if it was the former, or a little bit of both.

I only seek the truth, even if it hurts like hell.

(to be continued)

Peace and Love to my melanated family,

Did you know? The True Meaning of Halloween, or “Samhain”

Everything is so commercialized these that we tend to forget that all things have an origin. Halloween included. I don’t condone the Westernized version of Halloween, where we encourage our children to give back to the system i.e. keeping the “drug companies” *cough* Nestle, Mars*cough* in business, preventing dentists from becoming obsolete.   But I do agree with the original (“pagan” to the uninitiated) roots. It’s a time to reconnect with ancestors who have passed into the next realm. If you are still attached to commercialized religion, I ask that you keep an open mind. At some point we have wake up peoples!

What the Heck is a Samhain?

By Jeanine DeOya

A lore that has been adapted in the United States, and many other countries, is the celebration of Halloween. Halloween, or “Hallow’s Eve”, “All Hallow’s”, “Holy Eve” or “Hallowmas” were some of the names given by the Catholic Church, around the 8th century, for a holiday they celebrated the night before “All Saints’ Day” (the celebration of the Catholic Saints). Just like other Christian holidays taken from pre-Christian Pagan celebrations, Halloween is the secular name for the European Sabbat called “Samhain”. Many of you may have heard the word Samhain before, but may not have known what it was about. Let me try to explain. Samhain is what Pagans, Witches and Wiccans celebrates while the rest of the world celebrates Halloween. Samhain (pronounced Sow-en) and also called Witches’ New Year, is an ancient festival which dates back further than 2000 years. Samhain means summers-end. The ancient Celts believed that summer ended at sunset on October 31st.   During that time they celebrated the change of the season by gathering around bone fires and dancing and feeling the vibrations of the seasonal change. This was the time of the third and final harvest of the year; so, much of the celebration was a thanksgiving festival to the goddesses and gods for the year’s food yields.  Many celebrated in festive garb or costumes.

The other part of ancient Samhain lore is the unveiling of the Otherworld. The cooling air is representative of the thinning of the veils between the worlds, including the veil between the living and the dead. The aspect of the Pagan Horned god is said to wane during the last summer days. During Samhain the Pagan Lord travels through the underworld and awaits rebirth before spring. Ancient Celts believed that spirits can either peer or travel through the thinning veils into the world of the living. Celts would dress in costumes to fool the spirits so not to be haunted by an unwanted ancestor or evil incorporeal being. Offerings of food and libations were placed outside doors so that the spirits would take the offerings and by-pass the homes instead of coming in. This is where the tradition of Halloween costumes and the offering of treats came into play.

Samhain Night

Because the veil between worlds are so thin Witches and Pagans believe that Samhain is a time of psychic clarity and divination—to see what is normally hidden. Much meditation, astral travel and psychic reading is performed during this period. Self-exploration and examination are the common workings since many believe this period is conductive to introspection and seeking the “darker-self”—the inner-self that is unknown. Many Pagans refer to the lore of both Inanna and Persephone. In each of their stories both goddesses journeyed into the underworld and made self-discoveries. Many Pagans look to other dark goddesses when seeking the darker-self, including Oya, Hecate, Lilith, Sekhmet, Auset, Cerridwen and Psyche just to name a few. In African Lore the goddess Oya travels between worlds, and especially the world of the dead. She is said to be the intermediary between the spirits and the living. Her aspect is present during Samhain.  Others may do spiritual workings with Papa Legba since he is the caretaker of the sacred crossroads, and he also controls communication between the spirits and the living.

Many others view this time as “the Feast of Samhain”. During this period people leave a place setting(s) at the table for a beloved Ancestor(s). To many this is a period of Ancestor  veneration. Some will even use this time to summon ancestors, spirit guides and angels to aid them in their lives. Some Pagans leave milk, honey, cakes and other offerings outside to appease the spirits with hopes that dreams, wishes and desires will be granted.

Personally Samhain is indeed my favorite Sabbat, and this time of year is the most beautiful. The colors of orange and gold and yellow and red reflect in the brilliance of the trees, as well as the season’s harvest. The air cools with the fresh scent of mums and other fall fragrances. On one warm day I have actually smelled the aromatic scent of heated brown leaves under direct sunlight. Because of the cooling air my dreams are deeper, more meaningfully, and more frequent than before. I find myself often in lucid dreams. This is much more desirable than my summer dreams, which were akin to watching a movie screen in a cerebral haze.  Dreams are connected to the psychic and astral plane, and are a good indicator of changes in surrounding energies.

During this time the Witches or Pagans are feeling their power, because their lower 5 senses are much more stimulated, their neural transmitters are firing more intensely, and their third eye widens with the thinning of the veil. Because of this many may be doing fastings and or meditation to increase their abilities. Pagans have a deeper kinship with animals, totems and familiars on Samhain, because they too can sense the changes, feel the veil, and ride with the earth rhythms. The most potent circles are Samhain gatherings. All psychic pores are open and all souls cry out to be heard through the veil, and by the Ancestors. It is the best time for making personal quest and journeying for inner attainment. So when you hear someone ask what the %#@&!  is a Samhain? Just tell them it is a 2000 year old story that has stood the test of time, space and the Otherworlds.

a repost: Your body is no longer yours: Australia has become the first country to microchip its citizens

Article posted on Natural News (click link for original post)

(NaturalNews) You may not have noticed, but there are two kinds of countries in the world these days: Dictatorships led by authoritarians and democracies that are slowly being taken over by authoritarians. Put Australia into the latter.

Organic & Healthy reports that the land Down Under has become the first nation to begin microchipping its citizens, though NBC News predicted some years ago that, by 2017, Americans would all be microchipped.

Australia’s drive to implant citizens with what many believe is the Biblical “mark of the beast” is “a clever propaganda campaign that equates RFID microchipping with becoming superhuman, and people are begging for it,” News.com.au noted.

It’s all about ‘convenience’

One Australian woman, Shanti Korporaal, from Sydney, is at the center of a controversy after having implants inserted in both hands. “You could set up your life so you never have to worry about any passwords or PINs,” she told News.com.au.

The idea is that microchip implants give you a unique identifier, so your implant can be used to get into locked doors, transfer personal information to smart phones and other personal devices – and, of course, allow you to be tracked everywhere you go by government.

Why would anyone voluntarily want to do that? One word, says one microchipping recipient: “Convenience.”

As bad as it is to carry cards around that transfer personal and financial data to massive (hackable) databases and smartphones that serve as personal tracking devices – again, out of convenience – you at least have the option (for now) of leaving them behind when you go somewhere.

You don’t have to take a smartphone with you, or at minimum you can learn some ways to better protect your information. With cards, if you must carry them, there are devices you can use to essentially shield them from ID thieves and tracking devices.

But once you put a tracking device under your skin, the only way to get rid of it is to have it surgically removed, or hack off your limb.

Would authorities actually track you for no reason? It’s already being done.

As we reported in April 2012 that police departments were tracking cell phones without first getting a warrant, as required by the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution. In fact, the American Civil Liberties Union found that “many” of nearly 200 departments surveyed did so sans warrant. While some departments were getting the required warrant first, others “said they use varying legal standards, such as a warrant or a less-strict subpoena.”

Why make it easier to track you?

The practice has continued. In July the Boston Globe reported that the city’s police department had used “a controversial cellphone technology 11 times over the past seven years without once obtaining a search warrant…”

Another major problem is hacking and identity theft. In the NBC News report of several years ago, reporters noted that one of the “problems” that could be solved had to do with medical information: Chips would allow doctors and hospitals to have access to your identity and medical record if you were unconscious and unaccompanied upon admission (and how often does that happen?). But medical information is a top target of hackers and identity thieves. In fact, health care information is the most coveted by cyber thieves because data contained in health records – prescriptions, Social Security numbers, addresses, etc. – are much more permanent than, say, financial data (which is changed once a hack has been detected).

Privacy in a digital world comes at a premium as it is. Our retinas are scanned, our wallets are scanned, our online data is hacked and our movements are already being tracked – both by government and by private corporations. But all of those methods can be mitigated. It’s very difficult to mitigate personal tracking when you’re carrying the tracker inside your body.

The point is, if government can track you 24/7/365, government can control you as well.

“There is no such thing as race…just Melanin baby!”

got-melanin

From the Melanated Man:

Personally I have gone through a slight shift inmy  consciousness over the last couple of weeks. I know that “race{” and “racism” is a United States, British, European social construct to divide and conquer the masses.

But also I realize that there is no such thing as being “colorblind” either. Every hue-man being sees color whether they want to admit it or not, and most if not all people have preconceived prejudices against other races, even their own, through learned and sometimes unlearned behavior. At some point you must move past the elementary and secondary level and graduate to higher thinking. And I’ve come to the conclusion, and this is my own conclusion, that there is melanin and nothing else (Refer back to The Melanin Race Chart ) when it comes to the HUE-MAN EXPERIENCE.

It is the only thing that matters in the big picture. Master melanin, you win the game. It’s a subject matter that is being covertly taught to us, from a Eurocentric perspective. For instance…

Chemistry or Kemetstry (Kemet, the name for Ancient Egypt, means “the black land”) Definition: Chemistry (from Wikipedia) is a branch of physical science that studies the composition, structure, properties and change of matter.

Now add one word to that definition and you’ll have it’s true definition:

Kemetstry is a branch of physical science that studies the composition, structure, properties and change of DARK matter.

Our thoughts and visions began in darkness. Our hue-man bodies were literally conceived in darkness. The universe is consumed in darkness. Whatever is done in DARKNESS will come to LIGHT! For those who have the gift inside and out, we are the BEACONS OF LIGHT for the world to follow!

So from now on when it comes to spitting my own words of wisdom and knowledge, I’m on a personal mission in dropping any mention of color concerning race from my vocabulary (Black, white, etc.) It’s something I’ve been contemplating for awhile now. At some point I have to unlearn the bullshit that has been programmed in my head. So I guess I’ll use the terms African and European more often than I have when it comes to Blacks and whites, or I might just make up my own terms and definitions.

As a matter of fact, I just might do that.  But anyway…

As I mentioned previously, I’m not magically colorblind now. Just because you’ve been blessed with melanin doesn’t mean you you’re conscious, let alone know how to use it. At the end of the day it is a gift, our connection to the universe and the Creator, our soul. And like the Good Book says, what is it to gain the whole world and lose your SOUL??

For an artificial world at that.

So does that mean that I will  accept those who are melanin-recessive into my circle because they’re conscious and know how to use the teeny weensy little bit they have?

Nope. Through historical and personal experience, I can’t fully trust whit…I mean melanin-recessive individuals. But to spare me from wasting any emotional energy, I don’t hate them either. They have different needs than melanated individuals, creating a conflict of interest. Hence, the integration disaster.  People with heavy doses of melanin inside and out (Africans, Africans of the diaspora, Aboriginals) tend to be more civilized and intune with the Creator and creation itself compared to those with the least amount of melanin (Europeans, Caucasians.)  So I’m sticking to my own. But at the moment, the majority of us are still turned off, separated from our melanin, based on our current mindset and lifestyle.

It’s time for  Blac…I mean melanated men and women all over this globe to elevate  and awaken from their 500-plus year slumber and bring balance back to this planet.

There is no such thing as race…just melanin baby!

An Esoteric Review: Netflix “Luke Cage”

luke-cage2

From the Melanated Man:

I wasn’t going to watch this show. Really, I wasn’t. I’m not a series kind of guy and I don’t watch that much TV at all for obvious reasons. My wife turned it on while we were spending a kid-free weekend.

Then I got hooked.

The Luke Cage series came out on September 30th. I finished the entire series on Oct 4th!! Talk about a series binge! I never did anything like that, but it was well worth it. I kept my THIRD EYE open and thankfully I caught some information that isn’t particularly new to me or to some of you reading this, but it was really interesting to see portrayed on tel-lies-vision in a non-threatening way, at least from my perspective.

The show  has a major Blaxploitation feel to it, and is almost reminiscent of Shaft. What’s funny is that Shaft is well before my time and I never actually watched that movie ( I did watch the remake with Samuel L.Jackson), but I have watched enough Blaxploitation movies like Foxy Brown to be familiar with the elements.

So let’s get to it. I’m going to hit some of the highlights that caught my attention and going into detail on them.

Articles that are good to read on Luke Cage:

Netflix’s Luke Cage is a Great Show Marred by Terrible Third Act

Luke Cage takes on the ultimate villain: America’s toxic black male stereotypes

Seven Things We Loved about Luke Cage and Two We Didn’t

Spoiler alert: Some scenes and storylines may get mentioned so avoid reading any further if you haven’t seen the show yet.

If you’re not familiar with Carl Lucas aka Luke Cage (portrayed by Mike Colter), he is one of Marvel Comic’s first black superheroes created in the late 60s/early 70s time period. In the comics, he originally hails from Harlem, but in the show he is only a transplant, an escapee from Seagate Prison off the coast of Georgia. That is where he attained his abilities by way of a failed experiment to save his life from an attempted murder while imprisoned. He has bulletproof skin and enhanced strength by way of the experiment, which sort of describes the durability of melanin with the skin and is vital to muscle health.Luke is also very proficient in hand-to-hand combat from his past in the Marines, according to the show.

He attempts to lay low in Harlem, working for Pop, a local barber who is hip to Luke’s abilities but keeps his secret. Luke is initially reluctant to use his abilities to help those in need as to not draw any attention to himself. Even though Luke is only fighting common criminals throughout the show, he operates outside of the system, and thus becomes labeled as a vigilante. Whenever there are  Black-Melanated men or women decide rise against injustice outside the boundaries of the system, they become labeled as militant,  or “communists.” When Pop is killed by one of Cottonmouth’s henchman, only then Luke decides he must  stand up for his adopted community.

cornell-stokes

Cornell Stokes aka Cottonmouth (portrayed by Mahershala Ali) is Harlem’s kingpin and owner of the club Harlem Paradise for the first 6 episodes, and my favorite character. He is one of the most complex characters on the show, conflicted with his role as kingpin and illegal arms dealer. Through flashbacks to his youth, Cottonmouth can be seen practicing on his music of a keyboard inspiring to become a famous musician one day. But he is pushed to run the family mob business by Mama Mabel Stokes (played by LaTanya Richardson) who started the illegal enterprise back in the day. Cottonmouth has to perform certain “initiation” duties to show his loyalty. Cottonmouth is not the ruthless, cold-blooded gangster that we may be familiar with. He respects the so-called code of ethics of the streets and only believes in violence when only necessary, the “eye for an eye” kind of attitude i.e. his disdain when he finds out Pop was killed without his approval. Because of  his relationship with Pop in his younger days, he pays his respect at the memorial which showed to me that Cottonmouth did have a heart.

They say we are defined by our actions, but I can safely say that with Cottonmouth I believe he made decisions that were necessary for his own survival. He made the decision to succumb to the street life, ultimately contradicting who he truly was and could become as a talented Black man. Unfortunately instead of overcoming his destructive upbringing, he became a product of it. Many people, specifically Black-Melanated people, have to make decisions just to survive not only their own environment that they were raised in, but the oppressive white-dominated system that they must face on a daily basis that is ultimately constructed to elevate one group of people’s potential and suppress the others’. From my perspective Cottonmouth is not a villain in the traditional sense even though he is defined as a criminal by the “law.”  In some ways he can be viewed as a leader, a man who does whatever it takes to not only survive, but to protect his community and people, even if he has to break the rules. Which is brings us to…

alfre-woodard-as-mariah-dillard

Mariah Dillard aka Black Mariah (portrayed by Alfre Woodard) is the cousin of Cottonmouth and crooked councilwoman of the Harlem district. Through the first half of the show, Mariah has good intentions to revitalize Harlem into a vibrant community even though her methods (through her ties with Cottonmouth) are against the law. She is a determined woman and refuses to let her goals for a New Harlem Renaissance to be thwarted even when Luke Cage causes havoc with Cottonmouth’s operation. We began to see a changing of the guard when she kills her cousin in a fit of rage and covers it up with the help of Hernan Alvarez aka Shades (portrayed by Theo Rossi), who was originally an advisor for Cottonmouth by way of gunsdealer Willis Stryker aka Diamondback (portrayed by Erik LaRay Harvey.)  I see that Mariah was the one suppressing her true desires of domination and control of Harlem, like a true megalomaniac, through her role as a politician. Shades, who intended to kill Cottonmouth himself, and Diamondback use Mariah to not only gain control of Harlem but to frame Luke Cage for numerous crimes.

shades

Shades is one of the few non-Black characters in the show. Since he started advising Cottonmouth, the Stokes family empire started to crumble. Later I realized that Shades had ulterior motives the entire time, setting his sights on taking control with Mariah by his side. The casting move may or may not have been intentional (and I may be reaching a bit) but it seems that throughout  thousands of years of history every time Blacks invite non-Blacks into their society/business nothing good comes of the relationship, an thus, the Blacks began lose power and ultimately sink to the bottom of the Totem pole. At the same time Shades has manipulated Mariah enough to gain her trust as if he were family. Another Black-Melanated woman succumbing to another non-Black man’s machinations like usual.

Diamondback, who was lurking behind the scenes the first half of the show, shows up after Cottonmouth is dead seeking to take Luke Cage with a deadly obsession. Later it becomes known that Diamondback is Luke’s evil half-brother through their father and  framed Luke for the crimes that originally sent him to Seagate. He felt neglected by their father thinking he  favored Luke since Diamondback was the product of a extramarital affair.  He is the one that has produced the gun and bullets that can actually penetrate Luke’s skin and in the season finale he wears a suit that can not only protect him from Luke’s punches but he can dish out his own pain on Luke as well.  Looks like weaponry imitating melanin to me. Also, Luke Cage was basically used as a guinea pig in testing whether the weapons would work on him. Blacks throughout history have been used as  guinea pigs in all types of warfare.

misty-knight

Misty Knight (portrayed by Simone Missick) is the sexy NYPD detective and reluctant sidekick of Luke Cage who was raised in Harlem and deeply cares for her community. She does her best to abide by the law, the system, to bring about justice. Like Mariah, who was heavily  influenced by Mama Mabel, she demonstrates a strength and determination to achieve her  goals despite the odds; from my own experience that seems to be  a common trait amongst  Black-melanated  women regardless of their makeup. Claire Temple (portrayed by Rosario Dawson) is a nurse who helps Luke when he is successfully injured by Diamondback, and develops a budding relationship with Luke towards the end of the season. I find it intriguing that Luke had a brief fling with Misty at the beginning of the season then turns around and develops feelings with Claire later on. What’s even more intriguing is the fact Misty and Claire, during a hostage situation in one of the later episodes, discuss their “interactions” with Luke without either one getting offended. Luke didn’t “belong” to neither one of them and vice versa, but he did have a intimate connection with them nevertheless. There was a time long ago when Black-melanated woman and men, indigenous cultures, were not possessive of each other when it came to intimacy and romance. In short, polygamous relationships were normal, prior to the introduction of religion and European mindframe of one man, one woman doctrine. Is it possible that can become acceptable again?

You may have noticed that I didn’t talk about Luke Cage himself. No offense to Colter, who did a brilliant job in portraying Cage, but there was not much complexity in the character. And that was by design.

In my opinion, Luke Cage is your typical superhero with the typical backstory, tasked with protecting the status quo only in blackface. He may have been a vigilante about it, which most superheroes are, but ultimately he wants to make sure that the “criminals” or law-breakers fall back in line like the rest of the sheep of Harlem.

The only problem the police and politicians have of superheroes is that they go above the law to get the job done. And superheroes can do it more efficient than they can. Nevertheless, the status quo being kept.

The real criminals, the powers-that-be are the policy makers who created the conditions and environment that birthed the Cottonmouths, Mariahs, and Diamondbacks of the world  But that’s not going to be the forefront  in a superhero show. The theme and plot must be kept simplistic for the average viewer, to make you go “Oooooo” and “Wowwww!!”

When watching a superhero flick/show, Try not to watch it through the archaic lens of good versus evil. I don’t adhere to that concept, the good guys versus bad guys, the  law-abiding citizens versus criminals.

At the end of the day they’re one in the same. The only thing that separates the two is timing.

Overall, I got plenty of information from the show besides what the creators wanted me to receive. So it wasn’t time wasted, although I probably won’t series binge like that again for lonnngggg time. Thirteen hours worth of episodes is alot to consume in a short period of time.

Share your thoughts on the show as well if you’ve binged on it just like I did.

Peace and Love to my melanated family,

The Melanated Man
