I remember my dad playing The Jacksons Destiny album when I was a little kid and I got hooked then. This song really stuck out with me in particular. I resonated with me and at the time I couldn’t understand why. I didn’t quite understand myself then the way I do now. Today it makes TOO MUCH sense to me as to why it resonates with me. It describes me in every way imaginable. I’ve never been a person to fancy the finer things in life, or to get caught up in the big lights aka the illusion. I just want to live the simple life, nothing more, nothing less. I consider this song a classic in my book. No matter how Michael Jackson was portrayed in the media when he was alive, I still admired him and respected his gift to touch the spirit of the man. He touched man with this track.
