Food for Thought: The Money Stress

From The Melanin Man:

I’ve lived in only one country in my life, the glorious (lol!) United States of America. So I can only make the following assessment concerning society’s “rules of interaction” based off that fact alone:

“If you’re not making money, you’re spending money, and nine times out of ten, you are participating more in the latter than the former.”

I’ve been fiddling with this assessment for a couple of months, and I’m willing to say it’s a hard truth that many of us do not want to acknowledge or accept.

This is not another post about how you should be focused on balancing productive nature against your consumption.

I wanted to focus on how our this reality shapes our interactions with one another. Our time (a figment of our imagination that is used in place of the only quantity that can’t be quantified, ENERGY) has been monopolized by the almighty dollar. Everything is for sale; nothing is free or guaranteed despite what they tell you. But that’s not the sad part. What’s truly sad is that if you’re not spending money, you better be figuring out a way to be making it. You better figure out a career or some sort of side hustle to keep the cash flow coming.

Rest?

It does not exist in the good ole U.S. of A. Despite the lies they told us, that slavery ended? It never did. It just changed form. It’s called the light bill, the water bill, the cellphone bill, the internet/cable bill, student loans, et cetera, et cetera, ET CETERA! Our minds are tragically being stretched and strained, trying to figure out how to maintain our own personal version of the AMERICAN NIGHTMARE…I mean the “American Dream.”

You don’t have the opportunity to focus on the REAL you, the spiritual you, when your mind is occupied  with basic survival. You can’t focus on spiritual healing and growth when there is so much NOISE AND CHAOS in your mind geared toward just making it through the day. And NOISE AND CHAOS is what America specializes on so many levels.

Unbeknownst to the masses, divinity lies in silence.

(Hence, the rise of faux New Age meditation.)

The purpose of an authentic spiritual man/woman should not be swayed or influenced by its external environment. Their lifestyle would be geared toward realizing the purpose they were bequeath with. The truly spiritual man/woman does not necessarily shun luxury and convenience, but they do no seek it either, for they know that it keeps them bound to their humanity, which is ultimately a prison for the soul. How ironic it is that spirituality is absent from the American spirit. The aim of the American spirit is to feed the human nature of the masses, keeping them blind to the TRUTH.

America, at her core, shuns the idle and unmotivated of its collective. The cycle of  capitalism must continue to proceed, and those who do not and/or not able to participate are looked upon as dregs of society. The prevailing thought is that most dregs are either Black and brown, the bulk of that being Black. It is my belief that the Black Man/Woman in America, in spite of their ignorance on a collective scale, is the utmost spiritual being on Earth.

And you know why.

There are more in depth reasons as well, which at some point I will address.

At some point you would think that America (which is looked upon as the modern-day Rome) will take a hard look at the one group of people that basically built the country, from its infrastructure to its culture from religion to cuisine, for the solutions to the issues it has been plagued with. I’m sorry, I forgot, America is not interested in solutions.

DISTRACTION is its game.

To my Black brethren and sisters who wish to break out of the survival game, don’t let the money stress keep you from a living out your purpose on this earthly place. The cycle of spending and making money has nothing to do with your spiritual journey. Money, if you are able to have a substantial amount of it, should only be a tool to have more experiences to learn and grow from to ascend spirituality. Don’t get comfortable with money or fear that you may lose it.

Doing that is a sign that you’re not ready to move on from your human shell.

Peace and Love to melanated family,

The Melanin Man
